How to Update Your Book's Metadata on KDP and IngramSpark (Step-by-Step Guide)

Go to your Bookshelf: Log into your KDP account and go to your "Bookshelf."

Select your book: Click the ellipsis (…) button next to the book you want to update and choose "Edit eBook Details" or "Edit Paperback Details" depending on the format you want to change.

Update Metadata: You can edit the description, keywords, categories, contributor bio, and other relevant metadata.

Save and Publish: After making your changes, click "Save and Publish" or "Save and Continue" to apply the updates.

Log in: Sign in to your IngramSpark account.

Title Management: Go to the "Title Management" section.

Select your book: Find the book you want to update and click on the title.

Edit Metadata: Click the "Edit" button next to the metadata section you want to change (e.g., "BISAC Subject," "Contributor Bio," "Description").

Save Changes: Make your desired changes and click "Save" to apply the updates.

Distribution time: Changes to your book's metadata may take some time to reflect on online retailers and other platforms. KDP updates are usually faster (within 24-48 hours), while IngramSpark updates can take several days or up to a week.

Updates on both platforms: If you distribute your book through both KDP and IngramSpark, make sure to update the metadata on both platforms to ensure consistency across all retailers.
